Why are there two sites for Corfu-Pembroke DFS organization?
To improve  the effectiveness for Scholarship and Standardize application our chapter has implemented a new software tool provided by ScholarshipAmerica® (the national scholarship organization that we are a part of) This software will move all of our chapter's scholarships online and it will allow us to be more efficient with our awarding process.

What does the board do?
Provide leadership to raise funds and distribute scholarships to local students. Community members, alumni, or anyone can make a tax-deductible donation to Pembroke DFS to help fund DFS scholarships or establish their own scholarship through DFS. If you Like, you can Donate on Line: Our Chapter is NY3200 and you can review the form thru step 4 with no obligation.

What is the mission and vision of the organization?
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.  Our mission is To encourage post secondary education for all students through strong Dollars for Scholars scholarship support

What is the Scholarship Timetable?
As a guideline,  in September we Assess current Awards Policy and technique to raise scholarship Money, January we determine the number of scholarships to awarded. April Student applications due and in May develop Awards Ceremony Material. June is Annual Awards Banquette. We send award checks in August.

How much time do I need to volunteer each month? Year? How long and often are the meetings and when/where are they held?
We meet once each month as a Board of Directors except no meetings in January (weather), July and August. Many of the activities chairs will hold special meetings to work on specific projects

How much money will I be required to donate?
Board members are not REQUIRED to donate, but certainly gifts are encouraged.  If you can see a donation as part of your finances, DFS and the Students served will be richly rewarded.  It is easier to solicit gifts if you can say that you and the whole board have given a gift.

Why should I commit my valuable time to this organization?
This Charter was presented in June of 2008.  We serve as a conduit for the PHS Alumni to give scholarships each year and have activities to organize donations to the Graduates of the Corfu Pembroke School District.
Dollars for Scholars is an investment in the future of youth. We hope you will invest your time with DFS to reach these goals.
